Emily Gertsch

Emily Gertsch is Director of Graduate Studies and Senior Lecturer of Music Theory at the University of Georgia's Hugh Hodgson School of Music. A faculty member since 2012, she teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in music theory and oversees the second-year undergraduate theory curriculum. She holds a Ph.D. in Music Theory from Florida State University. Her research interests include tonal analysis, musical narrative, and music theory pedagogy, and her work has been presented at national and regional conferences. In 2017, she received the inaugural Hugh Hodgson School of Music Excellence in Teaching Award.
