Violin

Violinist, Monte Belknap, is celebrated as a world-class musician and master-teacher. His characteristic, deep, singing sound and formidable virtuosity has captivated audiences across the globe for over three decades. After a performance of the Barber Violin Concerto, Ed Reichel of the Deseret News stated, “Belknap captured the eloquence of the music with his luxurious playing that embraced the lyricism fully”. Monte is on the faculty at Brigham Young University where he has taught for 20 years. He also teaches at several festivals including BYU’s Music Institute and Summerfest, the Study Music Abroad in Italy with the University of Georgia-Hugh Hodgson School of Music, the Lutheran Summer Music Academy and Festival in Valparaiso, Indiana, and in the Oracle Chamber Music Festival in Oracle, Arizona. He is the former concertmaster of the Illinois Symphony and Chamber Orchestras and is the featured violin soloist in the 2021 movie, “Lamb of God”.
